Independent Public Relations Associates
Independent Public Relations Associates [IPRA] was founded in 1984 by Dick
Davies to provide large multinational and emerging technology companies
with cost-effective and targeted marketing communications programs. IPRA
brings together experienced communications professionals with knowledge
of and success in the business and electronics trade media. Members of IPRA deploy the
optimal communications team to a public relations or related communications
program, identifying key industry influencers, organizing complete programs or targeted
projects, and delivering cost-effective results on time and within budget.
Independent PR Associates are located across the U.S.: New York City (Luxcore,
Ltd.); Dallas (Transaction Partners Worldwide); Minneapolis (Kirsten Chapman
Associates); and Walnut Creek, Calif. (Thomas Mahon Public Communications).
Dick Davies founded IPRA after being employed by Strayton and Associates
(now a division of Hill and Knowlton) from 1982-84. Prior to working
in technology product communications, he served as an editor with Fairchild
Publications, the original publishers of Electronic News and MIS Week; and co-founded
and operated the Connecticut News Bureau in Hartford, which provided
political and business coverage throughout New England for weeklies and dailies such
as the New York Times, Westport News and Darien News.
Current clients of IPRA include Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc.; (memory,
ASIC, processor and wireless telecommunications devices) Intel’s Level
One Communications division (xDSL and networking chips); the 1394 Trade Association,
a 175-member group led by Sony, Philips, Texas Instruments, Matsushita, Yamaha
and IBM that has developed and marketed the IEEE-1394 multimedia bus standard;
and Elantec, Inc. (analog and mixed signal devices).
